Kathryn Stemwedel studied painting in Italy
and attended the school of the Art Institute at Chicago
among other fine art schools, but ultimately is self
taught. She has been dedicated to painting for over
10 years. Kathryn is a Saint Paul native and resides
there with her twin girls.
Artist's Statement
I consider myself a modern symbolist and a post-postmodern
pre-pre Raphealite realist. I believe that humans are
instinctually on a quest to return to their hearts where
they will find everything they need. In my commitment
to art and the perpetration of beauty, I embark upon
this quest through painting. I consider myself a romantic.
(There are about 6 of us left and we are seeking new
applicants.) I believe in the unseen, the impossible,
fairies, love and its possibilities, the lexicon of
birds, color and the power of beauty to reach others
and monumentally change the heart.
