About
the Artist
Wyatt McDill is a filmmaker and painter living in Minneapolis,
MN. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Reed College in Literature
and studied filmmaking at the Minneapolis Community College. He has
been a featured artist at all Room and Board Stores and has had his
work pictured in "Home Ideas" Magazine—a Better
Homes and Gardens publication. His first film Shortwave screened
at the 1999 Slamdance Film Festival and was nominated for a D. L.
Mabery Award for Minnesota's "Best Picture". Subsequent
film projects have been awarded grants by the Jerome Foundation and
the Minnesota State Arts Board and screened at film festivals around
the country. Recently, Wyatt helped found the Central Standard Film
Festival while script-writing for FilmFinds, a television
program about low-budget filmmaking. He is currently in pre-production
on his first feature-length film, Snowbird.
"Through film and painting I try to express
the way unconnected things stir me: nostalgia brought on by obsolete
objects; compassion for people less fortunate than me; wonder at
the world's mystery and possibility."
